What is the difference between a Christian counselor and a therapist? The main differences between therapists and Christian counselors are their education and practice approaches. Therapists usually have at least a master's degree and a state license to practice, but a Christian counselor may not need either.

Christian counselors incorporate faith values for clients who desire it, understand a Christian worldview, and are clinically trained. Alternatively, Biblical counselors typically have a degree from a Seminary or Bible College where they received extensive training in theology and God's word.

Certainly there is more Scripture to support this argument, but the justification has been laid. It is not against our faith as Christians to go to counseling. In fact, it actually is biblically sound to do so.

Pastoral care often involves prayer, scripture, and religious rituals as part of the healing process. Counseling, on the other hand, is a more formal and professional form of support provided by trained counselors or therapists.
